Shearing between assessment & delivery
Can I do this?..............Technically, yes.
We won't forbid you from assessing sheep in wool, for them to be delivered shorn. But there are several risks you need to consider
- Weight inaccuracy - difficult to adjust for anticipated wool weight
- Potential further weight loss/condition change due to being yarded for shearing
- Sheep with unhealed shearing cuts should not be transported
- Further yarding/handling/transporting increases risk of any shearing cuts becoming infected
As long as the sheep are described correctly and adjusted appropriately to deliver them as described, it's acceptable. Keep in mind however, buyer confidence and potential competition; a lot was listed on the system 4 weeks ago, to be shorn between assessment and delivery and it didn't receive a bid.
