AuctionsPlus are updating our User Agreement and Sale Terms.
The information outlined in this article is effective as of the 1st March, 2023.
The current tolerances on the average weight (both live and carcase) of stock will be unchanged.
Carcase Weight:
- Cattle – cows and bulls: + or - 5%;
- Cattle – all other stock categories: + or - 3%;
- Sheep and goats – all stock categories: + or - 5%.
Live weight:
- Cattle – all stock categories: + or - 3%;
- Sheep and goats – all stock categories: + or - 5%.
However, AuctionsPlus are introducing new protections on animals delivered outside the assessed weight range.
Individual animals which are an outlier to the average weight (but which haven't impacted the average weight) can be protected for. This may indicate out-of-spec animals, which can be costly to get back into condition.
A buyer may claim on average live weight OR weight range, but not both. If the tolerances are exceeded in both average weight and weight range, the claim would be based on the more favorable outcome for the buyer.
- Where any individual animal(s) in the Lot are outside the defined weight range by more than an allowed variance of 10%, a claim may be made.
OR
- Where the number of animals in the Lot that are outside the defined weight range exceeds 5% of the lot, a claim may be made.
Example: A lot of 300 Sheep are assessed to have a live weight range of 30 - 40 kg at delivery. To remain within the tolerance, no sheep should be delivered that weigh less than 27kg (10%) or more that 44kg (10%). Also no more than 15 head (5%) could be delivered that weigh less than 30kg or more than 40kg
