What are the different types of Lots?

There are three different types of Lots - Assessed, Described & Forward.

Whilst all lots on AuctionsPlus must be listed through a registered Agency, under the AuctionsPlus requirements, there are 3 different lot types available.

These lot types vary per commodity and different buyer protections are available, based on the AuctionsPlus User Agreement and Sale Terms.

  • Assessed Lots - Only includes livestock (cattle, sheep, goats) however not all livestock lots are assessed. An AuctionsPlus Accredited Assessor must complete an AuctionsPlus Assessment of the Lot, in an on-farm or saleyard environment and list the lot under the requirements set out by AuctionsPlus. Assessed lots include buyer protection for the traits assessed.
  • Described Lots - Includes both Livestock (e.g. individual stud animals) and other commodities such as machinery, equine, dogs and more. Described Lots include information supplied by the Vendor and must be listed by a registered Agent. Described Lots are sold on an "as is, where is" basis unless otherwise stated, and bidders are encouraged to physically inspect the Lot prior to bidding.
  • Forward Lots - includes Livestock e.g. Prime Lamb sold on the basis of a Forward Contract to a Processor direct via our platform Forward+. Only approved Processers can access and browse listings directly and approved Agents or Assessors can list.

All lots on AuctionsPlus are bound by Contract of Sale Terms.

How do I tell if a Lot is Described or Assessed?

When browsing the catalogue for each Auction, a badge is displayed on each lot to indicate the difference between Assessed & Described Lots;

Most often, an Auction will contain all Assessed Lots OR all Described Lots - however there are some auctions which may contain both Assessed & Described Lots.

Any questions relating to a Lot listed should be directed to the Selling Agent contact on the lot details.

Forward Lots are only accessible to Processors through Forward+.
